The Misplaced Meadowlark

Spent the afternoon scanning ancient family photos. This one here, of my grandmother, is by FAR my favorite!

Well hello! I decided to revive my NYC photo-adventure blog. It’s summer, school’s out and I have rejoined the living! Well, sort of…you see it had been MONTHS since I left the Island (apart from occasional jaunts to Brooklyn) and I was itching to get away. Low funds and a pile of work to get through prevented me from going too far. But yesterday, Zack and I decided to go explore Governor’s Island. It was just what the doctor ordered. We got there early (highly recommended), rented bikes, ate some delicious food and enjoyed seeing Manhattan from afar for once.

The day before Thanksgiving, my friends and I walked down the street to the Natural History Museum to see the balloons for the Macy’s parade being inflated. It was a surreal experience. We were instantly transformed into giddy little kids hopping from one balloon to the next. But come on, how would you act if you saw a Smurf the size of a large house?

One semester. Over and done. Remember the photos of this bare space way back in September? Well, had no trouble filling it! As I write this, the walls are once again bare but it feels different this time. Leftover energy? Or just ink splatter?

Intense sinus pain is preventing me from elaborating much more on my weekend, but for now, some shots with my crappy camera (hint, hint) from yesterday’s trip to the Natural History Museum.

I apologize for the terrible photos. I didn’t take my camera out last night. I had planned on being a good MFA student and toiling away in the studio into the wee hours, but at the last minute I decided to join my pals and crash attend the American Illustration Party. The space was totally cool, drinks were a-flowin’ AND I ran into an old friend from…yes…band camp. It was a great night. We ended it with cheap drink and french fries, turning it into an awesome night.

Some very grainy pics from the New York City Halloween parade. I think it’s about time to upgrade to the SLR…but actually, the photos really do depict the spirit of the night.

Fall in the neighborhood.

Last weekend, Zack and I took the bus to Boston to visit our friends, Tiffany and Chris. Boston is adorable. We saw some history, had some drinks and capped off our first full day with an amazing lobster dinner. Can’t really ask for more in a Boston vacation. I was completely smitten with all the little nooks and alleyways in the North End where our friends reside.
